In a relatively short period of time, Iris has managed to teach me all the basics of Mandarin Chinese. Her very well structured teaching method enabled me to effectively communicate in many day-to-day situations, and gave me enough basis to continue learning and improving as I am using the language.

Iris is a great teacher. She's very patient and keeps patiently correcting faults, even if they are repeated over and over again. At the same time she is maintaining a balance in accepting some errors to make a reasonable conversation possible. Iris is very committed to lessons that are 100% in Chinese. Sometimes this makes it hard to get some things clear, but it’s educating and prevents the slippery slope of slowly moving towards more and more English.
Iris provides personalized lessons where content can be adapted to your preferences. If no preferences are expressed she seems to prefer a wide variety of Netherlands related subjects and news items but some Chinese subjects are thrown in too. Refreshing from the standard cliche that many standard textbooks offer.
Overall Iris is a pleasant teacher dedicated to teach you practical useful Chinese.

Iris gave me a practical introduction to Mandarin Chinese. I started the lessons because I was going to visit Taiwan and meet the family of my daughter-in-law. I wanted to speak and understand Chinese. In just a few lessons, I learned how to introduce myself and my family, how to order drinks or a meal in a restaurant. I also learned how to ask for directions, getting around by public transport and of course doing shopping. It was essential in getting me up to basic conversational level in just a few months.
After my visit to Taiwan, where I could practice what I learned, I am continuing the lessons. Iris is a very professional and also very nice teacher. I want to learn more.

When we where invited to go to Taiwan, to meet the parents of the girlfriend of our sun, we also wanted to get some Chinese lessons. This was in the hope that we at least could recognize a little bit of the spoken language and maybe learn something more during the trip.
We found Iris as a native Taiwanese teacher and started weekly lessons. We practice words and simple conversations. We also get to know some stories of the Chinese characters. The lessons are very motivating and Iris is a wonderful teacher.
I can really recommend her to people who want to learn Taiwanese culture, some conversation and, if you want, Chinese characters.
